Personalized care. Lasting results.
At HearSouth Audiology, every recommendation we make starts with a thorough hearing evaluation and hearing aid evaluation. If those evaluations indicate that hearing aids are the right solution for you, we’ll guide you through our signature HEAR Journey – a structured series of appointments designed to help you become comfortable, confident, and successful with your new hearing technology. We believe the best outcomes happen through ongoing partnership, education, and personalized care, and the HEAR Journey ensures you’re supported at every step.
H – Hearing Aid Delivery
Your journey begins.
During your Hearing Aid Delivery appointment, we’ll introduce you to your new hearing aids and ensure they’re programmed specifically for your hearing needs using evidence-based best practices. The technology is only as good as the programming behind it—that’s why we combine advanced diagnostic testing with a real understanding of how you live day to day.
During this visit, we will:
- Check the fit of your earmolds or domes and make adjustments when necessary.
- Fit and verify your hearing aids using real-ear measurements and live speech mapping.
- Program your devices for the specific environments that matter to you, rather than relying on generic factory settings.
- Teach you how to insert, remove, charge, and care for your devices.
- Connect your hearing aids to your smartphone, televisions, and other Bluetooth devices.
- Customize programs based on places and activities that are part of your routine – restaurants, meetings, social gatherings, or other environments where you spend time regularly.
- Discuss realistic expectations as your brain begins adapting to new sounds.
- Answer any questions before you begin wearing your hearing aids at home.
The Accuracy of Live Speech Mapping
We use live speech mapping to compare hearing aid settings to the sounds entering your ear. During the process, a small probe microphone is placed in the ear canal while speech is presented through a speaker or recording. The measurements show how sounds are reaching your ear while you wear the hearing aids. We use that information to make adjustments and compare the hearing aid output to your hearing needs.
You’ll leave with everything you need to start hearing (and living) with greater confidence.
E – Enhancement Visit
Approximately 1 week after fitting
Your first week is an important adjustment period. At your Enhancement Visit, we’ll review your initial experiences and fine-tune your hearing aids based on real-world feedback.
This appointment focuses on:
- Reviewing how you’ve adapted during the first week.
- Making personalized programming adjustments for comfort and clarity.
- Addressing any concerns about sound quality or physical fit.
- Reinforcing cleaning, maintenance, and daily use.
- Answering new questions that have come up since your fitting.
Small adjustments early on often make a significant difference in long-term success.
A – Achievement Visit
Approximately 2 weeks after your Enhancement Visit
By this point, your brain has had more time to adapt to hearing sounds it may not have heard in years. During your Achievement Visit, we’ll evaluate your progress and help you maximize the benefits of your hearing aids.
During this visit, we will:
- Evaluate your listening experiences in a variety of environments.
- Fine-tune your hearing aids based on your lifestyle and listening goals.
- Review advanced features and communication strategies.
- Discuss any remaining challenges and develop solutions together.
- Ensure you’re achieving the best possible hearing performance.
Our goal is to help you feel confident in conversations, restaurants, family gatherings, work, and everyday life.
R – Review Visit
Approximately 4 weeks after your Achievement Visit
Your hearing needs can change over time, and we’re here to support you long after your initial fitting. During your Review Visit, we’ll confirm that you’re continuing to hear your best and establish a plan for ongoing hearing healthcare.
This visit includes:
- Reviewing your overall satisfaction and hearing performance.
- Performing additional adjustments if needed.
- Inspecting and cleaning your hearing aids.
- Reviewing maintenance and long-term care.
- Planning future follow-up visits to keep your hearing aids performing at their best.
A Lifetime of Better Hearing
Your HEAR Journey doesn’t end after your Review Visit. As a HearSouth patient, you’ll continue to receive professional support, expert guidance, and personalized hearing care whenever you need it.
Because hearing better isn’t just about wearing hearing aids—it’s about reconnecting with the people, conversations, and moments that matter most.
